I owe you an apology for the lack of posts lately. I have been pulled in a few different directions and as soon as June dies down... regular posting will occur. Thanks for your patience. Stay Tuned!

Lapel Pins

A spiffy accessorie for any lapel. The lapel pin adds a personal touch. Whether that touch be ironic or political. Both are charming and personalize the ensemble. I picked these vintage lapel pins up for the hus last week at The Woodlands Supply Co. They have a slough of them. Seriously fun to sort through. But be cautious, some are rather sharp.

Hats Worthy of a Derby

The Kentucky Derby is today and much to my dismay, I have a few other quality activities on my agenda. But, who knows? A mint julep could find its way into my hands before the sun sets.
However, if I were to attend the Derby or Derby worthy festivities, I would love to have one of these beauties from Pinkham Millinery to crown my ensemble.

Cheers!

Rainy Afternoon at The Art Museum

Chicago, 1958

Philadelphia, 1963

Once all of my pertinent duties for today had been completed I strolled around the park blocks, nabbed lunch from my favorite food cart, sat in Director's Park, ate, avoided the pigeons, and then found myself at the north entrance of the art museum. I love peeking in every once and again to see whats new and reassure myself that some of my favorite pieces are still alive and well. Luckily, they are. To boot in the vestibule on the lower level there is an exhibit by photographer Ray K. Metzker, titled: AutoMagic. The collection of gelatin silver prints are meditative. The manner in which Metzker conveys mobility: the lifestyle of the automotive, the pedestrians, the transit, is insightful and impressive. The exhibit is up until July 31st, So go check it our for yourself.

Oh, and the photos, I snatched from the PAM's Website.

¡Cinco De Mayo!

A few collages I put together some time ago, that are appropriate for today: The fifth of May. A national holiday in Mexico and the United states, which celebrates the Mexican militia's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla, 1862.

So enjoy a margarita and Gael Garcia Bernal!

¡besos, abrazos, y salud!

Tropical Breakfast

About 2 weeks ago we were having dinner at Ping. (Which is one of our favorite spots to go when I have a night off). Anyhow, after our dinner, the bartender introduced us to kaya, a coconut jam. Delicious. It also helps that I am a coconut fanatic. But this stuff is seriously delectable. Made of coconut milk, eggs, sugar, water and starch. You spread it on toast and you can almost feel the trade winds. (A slight exaggeration, but you are catching my drift).

We were hooked. So, on our way home from Seattle a couple Sundays ago, we stopped at Uwajimaya and found some. It was around $5, I think. But worth every nickel.

Bon a petite.

Modified Style

We hoped onto the Yellow line and off at disjecta last night for the 3rd annual Modified StyleFundraising Fashion Show. Unfortunately we were not prepared physically or mentally to make it through all 3 heats of designs. But here are a few of the highlights from the first part of the evening...
