Style Evolution...2011

Just a collection of snapshots, the inspiration for the look of 2011. Think 70s, but beyond that picture 70s doing deco or art nouveau. Relatively achromatic color palette and more substantial fibers, think wools and slightly heavier knits. Happy New Year!

She Who Wears the Pants

So, its all about trousers. Yes, trousers. At least according to Vogue and Marc Jacobs (to name a few). Yet, I will always remain loyal to my skinny jeans; meaning they will forever remain in my closet and in rotation. But, in the meantime I am having fun with a bit more volume around my legs and a little more swoosh in my step. Which is why I am loving these new (new-to-me) wool trousers by Courrèges Paris. I picked up these straight legged gems at little edie's for the equivalent of a Jackson. Looks like this lady will be staying warm come 2011.

Women fashions in the year 1970- Some Inspiration for 2011

Staying Warm and Dry

It has been a cold and soggy last couple of days (Sigh). Despite the constant puddles I have a new (well new-to-me) method of warding off the elements in plaid and faux fur. The coat, which is on extended loan from my friend Stephanie is just the right length to conceal your mini skirt and just the right fur-to-plaid ratio to have you feeling holiday cheer without looking as though you belong under the tree or on it.

Monday, Monday

Christmas 2010 has come to pass and I took the day off from work. I needed a break. Let's just say there was more than enough merriment for one week. So, after a long walk in the rain I set out to find those items on my wish list that Santa didn't slip under the tree. And I found them at the Portland Outdoor Store, Fry "Campus" Boots in black. Merry Christmas! And so this is the outfit I assembled. Just as soon as I dried out sufficiently.

Undershirt: Love on a Hanger
Sweater: Bistro (70s Vintage)
Skirt: A Goodwill Score
Tights: Esprit
Boots: Fry Campus

Lulu's Vintage

Looking for another rad vintage shop downtown? You should stop into Lulu's Vintage next door to Rocco's Pizza on West Burnside. The shop is geared up for the holidays with vintage wrapping paper and ribbon. I scored an awesome vintage Vogue book in there on Monday. Sorry I can't say more as it is a gift. Check them out.

Baby Shower Gifts

On Sunday I attended my friend's baby shower. Now this is their first child and they are waiting to be surprised to see if the baby will be a she or a he. So thinking along those gender neutral lines, I stopped into Crafty Wonderland to she what I could find in the realm of baby. And these pacifiers by littlefoote's lab were the ultimate score. Retail $20.
