Nylon February Drawings

Spending the last few days on the couch with a cold left me with plenty of time to catch up on some reading and drawing.  Here are a few of the sketchbook pages from that 48hour period.

Both drawings were done using the Staedtler pigment liner 0.5 and based on pages from the February Issue of Nylon Magazine.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I illustrated a cupcake just for you.  Sorry I wasn't able to bake a real one.  Although, you're  probably better off not having me bake anything... I love you!

Monday with the Sniffles

Please bear with me through this recent pile of kleenex and consumption of hot and cold liquids.  I seemed to have come down with a little bug yesterday.

Stay tuned for future posts and future health.

Taking Time...

Salutations cyber friends and viewers.  First off allow me to apologize for not posting yesterday.  I needed to take a little bit of me time and sleep in after a long night of tending bar on Valentine's Day.  I hope you didn't think I was ignoring you.  Also, today I am catching up on some much needed chores and my to-do list.  Sometimes it just all piles up at once.  However, while I am fighting off dust bunnies, dryer cycles and errands in town, please enjoy the recent ink sketch of my frames.  I just love using the Staedtler pigment liners.  For the glasses below I used the .3.  Let's talk soon.

Oh, but before I go... what do you think of the addition of a background photo?  It is an areal view of Portland shot in the late 70s.

xoxo

Thursday in French is Jeudi

My sincerest apologizes for the lack of a post yesterday.  I was busy studying for French class and running a few errands.  However, I did find time to cash in my credit at Buffalo Exchange for this little Marc Jacobs number...

Isn't she lovely? Elle est belle, non?

PS... if the translation isn't correct, let me know.  I am only 4 weeks into French for Beginners.

The Haberdashery

A little less than a week old, The Haberdashery is an exciting new business venture of Todd Everett Kinner.  Popping up in the old Recycled Chic Boutique space, only this time specifically for the XY variety.  With designer duds and great basics for sale, The Haberdashery is a must.  Impeccably styled and carefully selected, the racks are full of great labels and fine fabric choices, plus, the price range is highly competitive with dress shirts from the likes of Mui Mui, to Banana Republic and J. Crew for $20- $60.  You could be dressing like a total dandy for under a Benjamin.

Also, the newly opened shop is looking for consigners, so if you are a gentleman, or at least dress like one and have an inclination to clear out your closet The Haberdashery is the place.

Monday, Monday

Ok, so in theory, I have lodes of ideas and images to share with you this week.  For the moment though, a few tasks that I have been procrastinating on are at hand.  So please stay tuned.  In the meantime, check out my ink drawing of a typewriter.

Here's to the week ahead!

First Thursday is for Artists...

Last weekend while strolling around downtown and the West End, my friend and I popped into Parallel's new location on SW Washington, next door to Pinkham Millinery.  The new space is great and full of light.  But what truly caught our eyes were the beautiful portraits by Ruth Shively on display.

Here are a few other examples of her work.

For more information check out her website, flickr or etsy.

Today In History...

... at least three significant icons in the world of style and poise were born:
Clark Gable (1901), Langston Hughes (1902), and my mom (year omitted- so if you really want to know you can ask her).

Happy Birthday, Mom!  I hope it is a joyous occasion.

P.S.  Thanks for being super awesome.
